What you will be doing:
As a Release Analyst you will play a key supporting role in the planning, coordination, and execution of software releases at APFN. Reporting to the Test & Environments Manager, this position is ideal for someone proven experience in release or deployment roles who is ready to take on more responsibility. The role focuses on ensuring releases are delivered reliably, efficiently, and in alignment with governance and compliance standards.
The Release Analyst will work closely with cross-functional teams including supplier and in-house engineering teams, QA, operations, and customer-facing teams to coordinate and execute releases.
The key responsibilities will include:
Documenting the scope of each release, creating detailed deployment plans, progressing changes through the change management process, overseeing deployments, and ensuring clear communication with all stakeholders throughout the release lifecycle.
Release Coordination:
- Supporting the planning and scheduling of end-to-end software releases.
- Maintaining and updating the release calendar to ensure visibility and alignment across teams.
- To assist with defining release scope and timelines in collaboration with engineering, QA, and operations teams.
Deployment Support:
- Preparing and maintaining deployment plans, including pre-release checks and rollback procedures.
- Providing hands-on support during release windows, ensuring smooth execution and issue resolution.
- Documenting release outcomes and contribute to post-release reviews.
Governance & Compliance:
- Progressing releases through the change management process, ensuring all approvals and documentation are in place.
- Ensuring adherence to internal release governance and compliance standards.
Communication & Collaboration:
- Communicating release plans, progress, and issues to stakeholders clearly and effectively.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams including QA, development, operations, and customer-facing teams.
Continuous Improvement:
- Contributing to the improvement of release processes, tools, and documentation.
- Identifying opportunities to streamline release activities and reduce risk.
Your Skills:
- Experience in software release, deployment, or IT operations.
- Understanding of release governance, change management, and deployment planning.
- Experience working with QA and operations teams.
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail and risk management.
- Experience with Excel - confident using formulas, pivot tables, and data manipulation to support release planning and reporting.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and release automation tools.
- Bachelors degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or relevant industry experience.
Desirable:
- Knowledge of ITIL or Agile methodologies.
- Exposure to cloud-based deployment environments (e.g., AWS).
- Experience with tools such as Jira, Git, or ServiceNow.
- Background in software development, QA, or DevOps.
- Experience working within the Telecoms industry.
- ITIL Certification.
