We are looking for a Finance Director to help shape our journey.
This role would suit a senior finance professional with extensive leadership experience. We are looking for someone who understands PE / VC fund backed organisations who can improve profitability that supports rapid growth. Success in this role will be; Clear visibility into profitability drivers and a credible path to sustainable margins. High-quality, timely financial reporting with strong control and governance. Scalable finance systems and processes that enable growth. Strong investor confidence supported by disciplined execution and transparency. A finance function viewed internally as both commercially enabling and operationally rigorous.
Role Overview
1. Strategic & Commercial Leadership
· Partner with the MD, Executive Chairman, APFN Executive team and the FFTL Board to define and execute the company’s long-term financial strategy.
· Drive improvements in long-term profitability through rigorous analysis of unit economics, pricing, cost structures, customer acquisition economics, and lifetime value.
· Support the evolution of commercial and operating models as the platform scales and market dynamics evolve.
· Provide data-driven insight to inform product, go-to-market, capital allocation, and investment decisions.
· Act as a thought partner on margin optimisation and operational leverage.
2. Financial Planning, Reporting & Control
· Own budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning in a high-growth environment.
· Deliver timely, accurate monthly management accounts with meaningful variance analysis and actionable insight.
· Establish and track KPIs covering growth, profitability, cash flow, and capital efficiency.
· Design and implement robust financial controls, governance, and approval frameworks appropriate for a fast paced scale up business.
· Ensure strong working capital management, including oversight of cash flow forecasting, debtor management, and liquidity planning.
· Lead statutory reporting, audit processes, tax compliance, and regulatory filings.
· Oversee treasury management, banking relationships, and financial risk exposure.
· Ensure financial policies and procedures are documented, scalable, and embedded across the organisation.
· Balance financial discipline with operational agility, ensuring controls enable rather than hinder execution and growth.
3. Investor Management
· Manage relationships with investors, and financial stakeholders.
· Prepare high-quality Board packs, investment papers, and performance updates with clarity and credibility.
4. Finance Operations & Scaling
· Build and lead a high-performing finance team covering FP&A, accounting, billing, and financial operations.
· Ensure finance systems, processes, and automation are fit for scale and data-driven decision-making.
· Build and enhance a Billing-as-a-Service capability as a core operational function.
· Implement tools and reporting infrastructure that provide real-time commercial visibility.
· Foster a culture of accountability, financial ownership, and performance transparency across the business.
5. Governance, Risk & Value Creation
· Act as a trusted advisor to the Board on financial risk, capital allocation, and value creation.
· Establish governance structures that support informed, timely decision-making.
· Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory, and investor requirements.
· Lead enterprise risk management across financial and operational dimensions.
· Embed accountability frameworks that support performance discipline without slowing innovation.
About you:
Experience
· Proven Finance Director, or senior finance leadership experience, ideally within a tech or telecoms wholesale business.
· Experience in PE / VC / Fund backed environments (desirable).
· Track record of improving profitability while supporting rapid growth.
· Strong operational finance background with hands-on ownership of accounting, controls, audit, and compliance.
· Exposure to competitive, fast-changing markets and evolving business models.
Skills & Attributes
· Commercially astute with deep understanding of unit economics and value drivers.
· Strong technical finance foundation and operational control mindset.
· Comfortable operating both strategically and hands-on.
· Able to build systems, teams, and processes from scale-up to maturity.
· Clear and credible communicator with Board and investor presence.
